About Springboard
For 25 years, Springboard, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has propelled visionary women founders forward by providing programming, networking, and resources that help them take their businesses to the next level.
The measure of our success is in the results: Springboard alumnae have led groundbreaking advances in health and life sciences, technology, and more, and generated $76 billion in global market value. 28 of Springboard’s alumnae companies have gone public and 10 are unicorns. Alumnae companies include Zipcar, iRobot, Canva, AskBio, Everly Health, and Medable.
As we step into our next chapter, we’re strengthening our community infrastructure, sharpening our programs for today’s builders, investing in organizational capacity, and expanding our role as a connector among founders, investors, industry leaders, advisors, and aligned partners.
This is a transformative moment for Springboard — and we couldn’t be more excited to bring on a Chief of Staff to help shape what comes next.
About the role
Reporting to Springboard’s CEO, Umbreen Bhatti, the Chief of Staff is equal parts organizational integrator, director of operations, project manager, and executive partner – serving as her right hand so that Springboard can move boldly, quickly, and thoughtfully during a pivotal moment of growth.
This is a full-time, remote U.S.–based position operating on Eastern Standard Time. Due to the remote nature of the role, the Chief of Staff will be required to remain in a stationary position with extended screen time during regular work hours. Additionally, the Chief of Staff should expect to travel for important events and opportunities up to 20% of the time.
What you’ll do
The Chief of Staff will: 1) serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, 2) drive team effectiveness, and 3) oversee core operations.
Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO:
- Act as a trusted sounding board and advisor, helping the CEO prioritize, refine ideas, and navigate key decisions by proactively providing information on relevant trends, opportunities, and ecosystem developments.
- Advance ideas and opportunities on the CEO’s behalf, ensuring potential partnerships and initiatives are captured, assessed, and moved forward with clarity and momentum.
- Prepare the CEO for all internal and external meetings, including partner engagements, Board sessions, and National Trust (Springboard’s advisory board) meetings — managing scheduling, briefing materials, agendas, and follow-ups.
- Support speaking engagements and presentations, proactively researching audiences, preparing talking points, and vetting opportunities to ensure strong alignment with Springboard’s goals.
- Draft, edit, and format high-quality correspondence, reports, presentations, and internal communications that reflect the CEO’s voice and the organization’s strategic priorities.
Drive team effectiveness:
- Support the CEO’s direct reports in setting and tracking goals, and manage the full goal-setting and performance review cycle for the leadership team.
- Plan and execute internal gatherings — all-staff meetings, retreats, and culture-building events — to strengthen connection and organizational cohesion.
- Convene and facilitate Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings, including designing agendas, documenting decisions, and tracking progress, troubleshooting bottlenecks or conflicts, and supporting aligned workflows and interdepartmental projects.
- Shape culture in a fully remote environment, building practices that support collaboration, clarity, and a sense of belonging across a distributed team.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for professional development, ensuring a supportive employee experience that prioritizes growth.
Oversee core operations:
- Develop and maintain organizational policies and procedures that promote clarity, performance, collaboration, and consistency; ensure all operational documents remain current and accessible.
- Track contracts and manage relationships with key vendors, ensuring the timely execution, organized documentation, and smooth implementation processes related to HR/benefits (and open enrollment), our accounting and finance partners, tech services providers, among others.
- Assess and improve Springboard’s technology systems, coordinating updates and implementing tools, including AI tools, that enhance efficiency and remote collaboration.
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent systems access.
- Coordinate all logistics and materials for Board and National Trust meetings, supporting strong governance and clear communication with senior stakeholders.
- Provide limited but essential executive office support, including CEO expense management and scheduling high-priority meetings.
Who you are
We’re seeking candidates with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience, including direct experience supporting executives or senior leaders, leading project management, and spearheading operations.
The ideal candidate:
- Delivers exceptional work — you get things done with impeccable attention to detail, build and maintain the systems that keep us organized and keep balls from dropping, and embrace and get others on board with tech tools (Notion, Google Suite, CRMs) that can make the team more effective.
- Owns the work — you anticipate, solve, and adapt with strong judgment and initiative, seeing no problem as too big or too small to take on.
- Strengthens culture — you bring positive, steady energy, collaborate with joy, operate with low ego, speak up thoughtfully, and align once decisions are made.
- Communicates with clarity, thoughtfulness, and confidence — you’re a great listener and you represent the CEO and the organization well with board members, partners, and staff.
- Shows up as a true teammate — you step in wherever needed, model shared responsibility, and are genuinely excited about Springboard’s mission and the chance to work with Springboard’s new CEO to build a new senior leadership team and a new chapter of success (a chapter we’ll officially launch in 2026!).
- Understands how founders and the venture ecosystem work.
