About the role

In 2025, Springboard celebrated its 25th anniversary and appointed Umbreen Bhatti its new CEO – and today, we’re building on a powerful and amazing legacy while defining a fresh, forward-looking story about where we’re going. The Vice President, Communications, will play a central role in shaping this story and leading the communication of it to all of our audiences, from current founders and alumnae of our programs, to investors, partners, and champions of women’s entrepreneurship.

This is an opportunity for a builder: someone energized by redesigning systems, overhauling communications infrastructure, and experimenting with new ways of articulating our purpose and our impact. The Vice President, Communications will be as comfortable writing, editing, designing, posting, and producing as they are setting and leading strategy: guiding a small but mighty team — including a Communications Associate with strong design and writing skills — and working collaboratively across the organization to share Springboard’s story clearly, powerfully, and consistently.

This is a full-time, remote U.S.–based position operating on Eastern Standard Time. Due to the remote nature of the role, the Vice President, Communications will be required to remain in a stationary position with extended screen time during regular work hours. Additionally, the Vice President, Communications should expect to travel for important events and opportunities up to 20% of the time.

What you’ll do

The Vice President, Communications will: 1) lead the refresh of the Springboard story, defining how our purpose and impact are communicated in our next chapter; 2) enable clear and confident representation of Springboard; and 3) build and manage a high-impact, collaborative Communications function.

Lead the refresh of the Springboard story, defining how our purpose and impact are communicated in our next chapter:

  • Craft a clear, distinctive brand identity and voice that reflects both Springboard’s legacy and its next chapter.
  • Spearhead a comprehensive redesign of Springboard’s communications materials and ecosystem, including messaging, website, and core collateral.
  • Produce top-tier storytelling uplifting Springboard as an organization, along with the work of our alumnae founders by partnering with Program, Development, and Community teams to surface stories of innovation and impact — including op-eds, announcements, reports, and website content – and by identifying and experimenting with new storytelling formats and platforms (audio, video, podcasting, live/IRL experiences) to expand reach and deepen engagement.
  • Develop and execute a thought leadership program positioning Springboard as a trusted voice in its industry, including identifying and crafting opportunities for Springboard’s senior leaders to share insights and expertise through op-eds, speaking engagements, panels, and other public forums.

Enable clear and confident representation of Springboard:

  • Draft and verify senior leadership communications, including CEO talking points, materials, press toolkits, messaging frameworks, and insights for interviews and public appearances.
  • Enhance stakeholders’ abilities to represent Springboard — including board members, other organizational staff, and affiliates — in partnership with the VP of Development.
  • Act as Springboard’s primary spokesperson and trusted advisor on all things communications when necessary.
  • Drive internal clarity and consensus by helping teams express complex work in accessible, human language.

Build a high-impact, collaborative Communications function:

  • Manage and mentor a Communications Associate – providing ongoing constructive feedback, identifying professional development opportunities, and marshalling projects to the finish line.
  • Manage the Communications budget, ensuring resources align with strategic priorities, and establish clear Communications goals and KPIs, delivering against them with rigor and accountability.
  • Oversee Springboard’s digital presence and social media channels (including Instagram and LinkedIn), with regular evaluation of performance, ROI, and platform mix, and the implementation of robust digital campaigns tied to Springboard’s organizational priorities, goals, and marquee events; including the development of blogs, videos, whitepapers, social media content, and other digital assets.
  • Cultivate and maintain media relationships with national and local media outlets, influencers, in collaboration with our external PR partners, to secure impactful coverage.
